For over two years, I ran a faceless YouTube channel, ZIO, dedicated to Marvel movies. Despite garnering millions of views, I realized I was doing it all wrong. There’s a faster way to achieve such results in just a few months. Here’s how you can do it too by focusing on short-form content and making your videos go viral.
Building Your Brand
Treat your channel as a brand. Decide on fonts and colors and keep them consistent throughout. Start with a logo and a banner, which you can create using any photo editor. If you’re not a designer, use tools like Midjourney, as I did. Consistency in your channel’s visual identity is crucial.

Choosing Your Niche
Don’t post randomly. Pick a clear topic and stick to it. Choose a niche with a potential audience. You can ask ChatGPT for a list of popular YouTube niches or search Wikipedia for a list of hobbies and select one that interests you.
Analyzing Competitors

Look at other big channels in your niche and analyze which types of content perform well. When I started, I noticed that “Did you know?” facts about movies were popular in my niche. For example:
Did you know in Avengers Endgame...?
Did you know that in Spiderman...?
I found interesting facts and explained them simply in my videos.
Content Creation Strategy
Don’t overthink it initially. Spend as little time as possible on each video, especially at the beginning. Publish your first video quickly to get comfortable with the content style. Then, focus on improving one aspect at a time, such as transitions, subtitles, coloring, or sound effects. This incremental improvement will enhance your video quality over time.
Analyzing Performance
After publishing consistently for about three weeks, I had my first viral video. Publish around 10 shorts and then analyze your data. Focus on view count, retention, and swipe rate. Rewatch your most viewed videos and identify what makes them different. Create a "viral recipe list" based on your findings. For example, my viral shorts had shorter subtitles, faster scene changes, and a joke at the end (even if it wasn’t funny).

Adapting and Evolving
In December 2022, I got monetized, but the ad revenue was initially less than $20 a month. Despite using the same techniques, my views were decreasing. When this happens, it’s a sign that your formula needs a revision. I repeated my analysis and noticed that better-performing videos had attention-grabbing sound effects, graphics, and minimal voiceovers. By making more content in this style, my channel gained traction, and ad revenue increased to over $150 that month.
Handling Setbacks
One day, I received an email from YouTube stating that some of my videos were taken down due to copyright notices, resulting in a strike and demonetization for reused content. It was a significant setback, but it didn’t stop me. I went back to adding voiceovers, revised my formula, and continued posting. I plan to reapply for the YouTube Partner Program soon.
The Key Principle: Determination
The most important principle for your channel is determination. Learn from each experience, improve, find solutions, and never lose your motivation. No matter how challenging it gets, stay focused and keep pushing forward.
